Overview
About Me
About a year ago I decided to quit my job and rent my house out and explore the western half of the continent. I lived the first 45 years of my life on the East Coast. I will likely live the next 45 on the West Coast. I absolutely love it out here. The scale of nature is unrivalled and all the people I have encountered on the journey thus far are quite friendly.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A friend encouraged me to check it out couch surfing and I am just now getting around to doing so. I enjoy getting to know all kinds of people and this seems like an excellent idea.

Music, Movies, and Books
When it comes to music, I like all the roots, and then some - rock, reggae, old time, country, blues, afro-pop, some jazz, some gospel. (Not a big fan of commercial pop, new country or hip-hop.)
When it comes to films, I am more a fan of Orson Welles, Stanley Kubrick, Ingmar Bergman, Federico Fellini, Akira Kurosawa, David Lynch, Roman Polanski.
When it comes to books, I like classic novels and modern poetry. Big on the Sufis right now ... and Zen. Currently reading Thomas Pynchon's "Vineland."
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swam with a Manta Ray that was slowly cutting back flips underwater in a lagoon in the Bahamas at dusk. It was magical.
