Hi! My name is David. I'm an academic administrative professional based in the Midwest. I have a pretty busy lifestyle in home home community but when possible, I try to make a trip each year - usually to explore someplace new, visit family, or for some sort of dance festival. My biggest hobby is social dancing - I'm part of the local swing dance and Latin dance communities. I actually started through country line dancing, then branched out into swing dance through my University (east coast, lindy hop, charleston). I took three ballroom courses to jumpstart my dance adventure and since then, have dabbled in balboa and west coast swing. My new love is sensual bachata and brazilian zouk! Needless to say, dance is where most of my hardsaved money goes... lol.

I used to work as a project manager and would travel every other week. Usually to the same location but I'd tack on mini trips in between or volunteer with other clients so I could explore different cities. In every city I visited, I checked out the local dance community - hit up a lesson or attend an event. O. M. G. I missed that life. Not so much the life-style, as I was working 90+ hour weeks consistently but the travel, dance, and socializing kept me alive. I've settled back in my hometown and don't have the time/money to make these trips but I still try to go somewhere once a year. My friend recommended that I check out Couchsurfing as a way to travel affordably while making new friends wherever I go. So hi. Want to go dancing? :)

As you see, I do a lot of dancing. I don't claim to be good by any means - just enough to get by. It's such an amazing community. While traveling however, I enjoy visiting a mix of tourist sites and local favorites - from museums of art, touring through historic neighborhoods, walking by lakes, visiting a local farmers market, attending open mics, live shows, chilling in a park, checking out local libraries (maybe getting a card as a souvenir lol), hole-in-the-wall eateries, etc.

I can teach you to dance! Or we can go dancing together - that's always a fun time. Regardless of whether you're a man, woman, non-binary, experienced, novice, never danced before, older, younger, etc. The dance community is generally very welcoming.
