About Me
Hello future friends!
My name is David, a fun-loving, nature-yearning soul from Montana, USA, who grew up in a large family of 7 kids, ate mostly organic-vegetarian, and spent most of my youth outside making forts, swimming, and adventuring in the local countryside. If that isn't an awesome enough childhood, throw in having moved more times than I'm old, being brought up studying myriad world religions and spiritualties, and being expected to pave my own way through life financially. I suppose that's something of glimpse into where I come from.
Beyond that and fast-forwarding to the present, think: "tired of the predictable life at home, not feeling served studying art at the university, wanting to experience the world and cultures beyond that of the broken 'American-Dream', and giving myself the gift of “free” time and attention during the beauty of youth and my formative years." Hence, I've moved my life into a backpack and am now vagabonding around the world. That was in August of 2019, a fantastic 21st birthday present if you ask me.
The adventure, has been wondrous.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Some of these questions seem silly, as I’d like to think that we’re all on couch surfing for a similar reason... I’m excited to meet local people and to get to know them on more of an intimate level than what’s at the hostels. I love late night talks and home cooked meals, early morning ceremonies and a place that feels more like home. Nights around the campfire together are always golden.
Like many of us, I’m more into the idea of an exchange of culture, gifts and ideas rather than a monetary exchange.

Music, Movies, and Books
Recently I’ve been exploring low key new-age activism/spirituality music, like Medicine for the People, Wookiefoot, East Forest, Trevor Hall, and Akira Don, but I’m into a lot music. I love to find new tunes!
I love movies and documentaries that really make me think or teach me something new! A few recent favorites have been Samsara, Captain Fantastic, Black Mirror, and This Strange Rock.
A classic for me is The Kingkiller Chronicles Series, by Patrick Rothfuss. Still waiting for the third book to come out. Recent books that I’ve enjoyed include: The Richest Man in Babylon, The Charisma Myth, The Four-Hour Work Week, Ishmael, and Braiding Sweetgrass.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Admitting to myself that my life was too predictable, comfortable and linear, and then leaving it all to go travel.
Teach, Learn, Share
One of my favorite things to do on the road is to share food. I’d love to cook with/for you while I’m passing through.
I went to Art School for three years, with a focus on Ceramics, so I could share many things about clay, firing, glazes, kilns, etc.
I can sew, keep bees, help with construction, maintain/use power tools, work with kids, star gaze, sing, share music, talk about local plants and animals, tell stories... ;)
I've worked with children and teens in a wilderness setting for several summerr; some would say I'm quick to connect with young people.
Also, I have many great card games to share, including an awesome one called Cambio.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Let’s talk, and share, and love! I’m a flexible, open, and real person and I love getting vulnerable and talking about what’s real.
