About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to get a children's book published

ABOUT ME

I was born in 1979 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA. Moved to Ithaca, New York at the age of 3, to Honolulu, Hawaii at the age of 6, to Poway, California at the age of 8, to Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 13, to Madrid, Spain at the age of 21, and to Colorado at the age of 23 where I've spent the last 13 years. I like people, movies, learning, traveling, music, drawing, and eating (cheese and ice cream, especially). I taught science for 8 years before returning to school to study tourism at Colorado State University. I've traveled a bit, but am always looking for new and exciting adventures :)

PHILOSOPHY

Connection is key. To people, nature, God, self, culture, etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate by asking a lot of questions, usually.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just getting started! I've surfed once in Denver, once in Cuzco (Peru), and almost surfed in Sweden but ended up not needing to. All experiences have been very positive.

Music, Movies, and Books

Harry Potter and LOTR books are at the top of the list. I also love historical/scientific non-fiction books and documentaries. Movies - October Sky, Les Miserables, Dumb and Dumber, Kate and Leopold, and many others. Music - alternative/indie/techno/punk/rock/bluegrass/modern classical/etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent 10 weeks in Cebu, Philippines in the summer of 2012 creating an experiential learning program to help elementary school teachers learn about coastal governance. Met some great people and made some close friends.
