About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet new people. Explore the world. Learn a language or two.

ABOUT ME

I really like to travel, but often I don't have the time to do so. I like meeting new people for a friendly exchange of ideas.

I'm an engineer and researcher currently based in Taipei, Taiwan. I am Taiwanese but was born in the United States. Right now my I teach Business English for business executives and scientists. I am also a freelance math tutor and academic coach, in addition to being a web publisher and writer.

PHILOSOPHY

"We are born into this time and must bravely follow the path to the destined end. There is no other way." (Oswald SPENGLER)

"Vivi come se tu dovessi morire subito. Pensa come se tu non dovessi morire mai." (Live as if you were to die suddenly; think as if you were immortal)

If you ask me about politics, I will say that I believe in peace not politics.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far, I've mainly attended meetups in Taipei. I try to meet people wherever I go and share my experiences and knowledge.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had a great time meeting people from all over the world and discussing things with them. I have made some good friends and learned a lot from them.

Interests

Cycling, Languages, Mathematics, Classical music, History, Writing. I like to eat and try new foods; I also cook on occasion but I'm not very good. I can if I have to. At one time I was an aspiring musician, but other things got in the way.

I also play some sports (mainly [association] football, and taekwondo) from time to time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Mainly Classical music and ethnic folk music; I also like 80's and 90's music from the United States, and older pop songs from Taiwan. I used to be an amateur musician and play in a band.

Books: Too many to list.

Movies: Depends. I have to say that the quality of Hollywood movies has gone downhill in the last few years. I have a few friends who are actors and independent filmmakers. They inform me of the latest developments. I sometimes act as an extra when I can, but I'm not a professional actor by any means.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know if anything I do is amazing. There are a lot of amazing people in the world, though and someday I may be lucky enough to meet someone who is truly amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to share a quote:

"If an idea is true, it belongs equally to all who are capable of understanding it." - René Guénon

What I Can Share with Hosts

A sense of humor, deep thoughts, and food.
