About Me

Amber and I (David) love to meet new people and share in authentic conversations. We traveled the world together (9 months in 11 countries) in 2014. Our trip was a mix between 'vacationing' + work-trades. For those of you who haven't been on Workaway, HelpX or WWOOF, we HIGHLY recommend it. The best experiences we had were while working to build clay houses in Thailand, do brutal work on a vineyard in France (it isn't romantic to weed vines!) or help out at a school in Cambodia for a few weeks. It has changed our view of traveling and we can't wait for our next adventure.

After that experience, we decided to live more simply so we designed and built our own Tiny House on Wheels! We spent 2016-2017 designing and building. We have been living in the Tiny House since 2017! Some pics here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/EDqQ2hM5fDlOc40p2

We currently live in Portland, OR, USA.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've surfed only a handful of times, but the 1:1 connections are incredible to force each other out of a comfort zone to explore a new area, even if it is your own, as if it is the first time!

Our favorite experience was staying with a wonderful Cypriot (from Cyprus) who lived in Brussels. He was incredible hospitable and we had a great time around Brussels and even took a field trip to the bunkers in Dunkirk! Amazing.

Interests

I will talk about things about both myself and Amber

- Dancing. Amber and I met salsa dancing! We love all forms of dance
- Travel
- Being intentional about food
- Being intentional about relationships with each other as well as friends (it gets harder as you get older - why does everyone get so damn 'busy')
- Being part of a community of open, liberal, like minded people
