Overview
About Me
I'm a petroleum engineer, working as a consultant in Tokyo,Japan. I had worked for a Japanese oil company doing oil and gas development projects not only in Japan but all over the world. Accordingly I visited many countries and have befriended many foreigners.
I'm now focusing on the research project on Shale Oil and Gas development in USA, which is making a huge impact on not only world energy market but US foreign policy.
I like playing golf, climbing mountains, watching movies, tripping around Japan and abroad , appreciating traditional Japanese cultures, having delicious food, having discussions on various issues and so on and so forth.
Actually my apartment which is located in the middle of the city is an office for my consultant business and I usually live in a house in the suburbs of Tokyo. I will stay at the apartment only when I host Couchsurfers. So I make it a rule to host Couchsurfers for two nights at most each time and only once every other week so that it hardly gets in the way of my work and normal life. Your understanding would be greatly appreciated.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
First of all I'd like to meet foreigners in order to satisfy my intellectual curiosity about foreign countries including their people, cultures, histories, national heritages, etc. and exchange ideas on various issues the world is now facing. I think that to keep trying to know each other and to understand each other beyond countries is essential to maintain international peace. So I want to try as far as possible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I am the primary organizer of many groups of people: groups of friends from the company I worked for, people who entered the company at the same time, friends from another oil company I was on temporary assignment for, friends from the industry I have been in charge of, classmates from high school, classmates from college, former coworkers who enjoy golfing, golfers among friends from the industry, and people climbing Mt. Takao every month who are friends from college, etc.
As a coordinator, I am responsible for setting up regular meetings for most of the groups. Most of people in those groups are now retired and left as it is, the opportunities for them to meet people are decreasing.
I feel so happy and a little proud of what I am doing when I see them really enjoying attending meetings and renewing their old friendships. By helping them meet each other, I believe that I’m preventing or slowing my chances of getting dementia.
