Sobre mí

Im born and raised her in Alaska. I grew up in Wasilla when it was a much smaller town. During mid-college I moved out to "The Big City" which is Anchorage. Anchorage is not a big city but the biggest in AK. I spend my time trying to stay healthy, fit and happy. Construction, health and education are my main career backgrounds which are a big part of who I am. I live in my house with only my dog, Captain, as a roommate. His favorite things are new people, ball and stick.
As a PE teacher I work in the winter and play in the summer.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

During the summer time I don't go to work due to being a teacher. Everyone else goes to work and I usually have to wait around if I want partners in an activity. Time makes me a great host of this state. Since enjoying what AK has to offer is #1 on my agenda why not take as many people as possible with me.

On the other side when I travel Id love to have someone who is a local hook me up with a place to stay and all the info needed to have a great and affordable time. I get along with just about everyone I meet. Thats probably why I enjoy meeting new people so much.

Algo increíble que he hecho

This summer my 2 sisters, 1 brother and I hosted our parent's 50th wedding anniversary, which was a big deal. My parents had lead a caravan of 9 RVs from California to Alaska for the big party. The itinerary was: to have me take family and friends down some class IV white water on Matanuska Glacier River, next day was the celebration, day 3 was to take all the old people (50-65+yrs) down Eagle River, which has one big class III rapid.
I was stressing a little bit. Ive been taking friends down these waters for 8 years now but never family or the elderly. The water levels have been high all season and were only getting higher by the day which means the rivers are getting faster and more violent.
Day 1 went off without a single person falling out of the boat, which happens sometimes. I still knew I had day 3 to worry about but I just pressed on and reassured myself I can do it.
When the crew or 15-20 people I was taking down the Eagle River arrived at the spot to assemble the boat we first hiked through the woods to see how big our one big rapid was going to be. We arrived and everyone's eyes were as big as their fists when they saw how ragging the river was on the 10' white water drop we were planning on taking. So I made sure my eyes shrunk to regular size and I turned around in front of everyone and said "This is going to be perfect! its JUST the right amount of water that will make you wish for more".
They closed their mouths and shrunk their eyes too. In the end I captained the boat down the river 3 times that day each with a load of different people. To my relief we made it down each time without anyone falling out. There were a couple close calls but people were on their toes and made sure those around them were safe.
I think thats pretty amazing.
