About Me

I live with my wife and 4 dogs in the small village of San Miguel Regla, 10 mins away from the magical town of Huasca de Ocampo. I work for a German company selling software. I'm also president of a human rights organization in Mexico, and my main topics for work are rights of migrants and asylum seekers, and rights of indigenous communities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My wife has been Couchsurfing for a while now. She's Brazilian, she travelled around Latin America, staying in Mexico to live. Through her profile we’ve hosted many people from different countries and I think it's a great idea to make life easier for travelers, and for local to have the chance to practice languages, and share experiences with other cultures. So here I am, opening this up to the world, from my own profile.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is Indie Rock, bands like Starsailor, Snow Patrol, The Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, Travis, Kasabian, Interpol, Embrace, Wilco, Stereophonics, Radiohead, Wolfmother, Black Keys and others made my late adolescence a sad/happy place. I also love Mexican and Latin American rythms: mariachi, son, bolero, salsa, cumbia, and to a lesser extent reggaeton.
As for books, I prefer Latin American authors. Names like Arreola, Rulfo, Fuentes, Paz, Garro, Poniatowska, Castellanos, Villoro, Sabines, are my Mexican favorites. Then García Márquez, Benedetti, Neruda, Onetti, Martí, Cortázar, Allende, Amado, Gracialiano Ramos, my favorites further south. I like Murakami and Oliver Jeffers a lot, but I've never been that much into literature outside of the LATAM region, I can certainly learn. And the same with films, I like theater so much that I've left films aside, but I'm always willing to learn. Regrettably there are no theatres around here!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen a lot of wonderful places, had chats with wonderful people and eaten wonderful foods in the world. That's pretty amazing to me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can practice with you the languages I know, give you some vegan food recipes, give advice on places to visit in the country, and also in other Latin American countries. I can learn a lot from you and your view of the world, food, politics, arts and science!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A spare bedroom with 2 double beds, kitchen, bathroom, living room with a screen (not TV signal, sorry) for online content, Wi-Fi and my bike if needed. We have 5 dogs, and we’re vegan and ask our guests to not eat animals or dairy in our house.
