About Me
Hi all! I'm David (he/him), 30 years old, and living in central AVL (occupied and unceded Cherokee land). I've done some touring and been a guest several times in the past, and am now happy to start hosting - come hang out!
The hosting space: a three-room first floor apartment close to downtown Asheville. The sleeping space I have for travelers is a sleeper sofa in the living room, there's a shower and bathtub and plenty of hot water, indoor spaces to put your bike(s), free in-building laundry, and a really big porch to hang out on. It's less than a mile to multiple grocery stores, some cafes, and a big ol park with weekend shakespeare for free in the summers.
I respect folks who want to hang out and folks who'd like to have some quiet space and folks who want some of both! Depending on when you visit I might want different portions of that myself.
I work 9 to 5/6 most every weekday (working in renewables), and will likely have most of my social energy on the weekends. I'm open to hosting folks of all races, genders, sexualities, ages, and abilities. I'd love to share food and cook with you while you're here, and you'll certainly have free reign of the kitchen during your stay.
A few interests: biking, making music, dancing, drinkin gin, taking photos of peeling paint, walking around and staring at things outside, talking about alternative economic structures because the one we have is cooking the planet, and chopping veggies.
A few experiences: I have enjoyed a fantastic 4.5 month journey across the US (NC -> Seattle -> San Fran) after graduating college in summer 2015; a month-long bike tour around California in the midst of a year of van-travel (Bakersfield down to LA up to San Fran and back to Bakersfield); countless backpacking trips from a few days to a month (Vermont's Long Trail); and many small landed life adventures.
