About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get away from the grind of the American work culture and experience life through the rest of the world's eyes. To be inspired to live a different, more fulfilling life when we return from our travels.

ABOUT ME

My wife and I live in Austin, Texas. We have taken a break from our professional lives to travel the world. We love meeting new people and having new adventures. We are both positive and upbeat people who treat everyone with respect and can carry a conversation on any topic. We are new to Couchsurfing, but we are excited to meet some great people and enjoy life with new friends.

David: I have a background in education. I taught elementary school in California for a few years as well as English overseas. My last job was in the corporate world in a sales role - much different than a classroom of children. I love playing & watching all sports (baseball is my favorite), camping & backpacking, trying new foods, hammocking, growing my mustache.

Kate: She has a background in public relations and journalism. She worked at a PR firm in downtown San Francisco, CA for a couple of years. Her most recent job was a sales role at UBER. She loves music (writing, playing and listening), the beach, drawing, playing & watching sports, longboarding, and road trips.

PHILOSOPHY

Love God. Love people. Love the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My wife and I are traveling for the year 2020. We are on Couchsurfing because we want to meet locals around the world. We would much rather spend some time with locals and see what they do than just going to all the tourist attractions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We spent our 2015 New Year's Eve at Patong beach in Thailand, and it was amazing! There was a lantern festival happening, fireworks going off all around, and a huge party with a DJ on the beach. There were thousands of people celebrating the new year, with hundreds of lanterns in the sky above us.

Teach, Learn, Share

We are happy to teach/share everything we know. Some cool things we can teach you are cooking, baseball, spikeball, surfing, longboarding, tennis, English, guitar, real estate, computer skills, and budgeting. We're also always looking to learn new things, so we'd love to learn about your passions, skills, and hobbies as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

One of our favorite things to share is stories. We love to tell and listen to stories about crazy things that happen, amazing things we see/do, and life tips & tricks. We pretty much love all games so we'd love to share some fun ones that we enjoy playing. We don't take ourselves too seriously so we love to share laughs and good times with you. We are open to talking about anything and everything.
