About Me

Psych major with Computer Science minor, semi-retired consultant trying to decide whether to start a business importing Indigenous Mexican Art into the States or line up another IT gig in Austin or Dallas.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I have been traveling around the World for the last year full time and doing the 2 week a year American wage slave thing in different places in the 30 years before that, I noticed over time that the best times I have had traveling are when a local of the country I am visiting shows me around. Also I am stuck in Houston waiting on a divorce settlement in Harris County while my ex tries t cure cancer at MD Anderson.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Krautrock , Post Punk, any Bowie or Brian Eno but I also enjoy Classical, Jazz and Avant-garde stuff like John Cage, Captain Beefheart, Stockhausen, earliest Kraftwerk basically anyone willing to take a chance musically. Listening to Abba right now.

I have spent so many years reading and programming I have to wear high index glasses or contacts. Some of my favorite authors are Nabakov, Bukowski, Chomsky, Chris Hedges, Hesse, Huxley, Orwell, Shakespeare, Camus, Homer (not the character from the Simpsons, the other Homer) and I love Philip K Dick and Margaret Atwood.

I love movies too, big fan of Fellini, Jodorowsky, Boorman, Kubrick is a god, Werner Herzog, Luis bunuel, he wachowski brothers ( they grew up in Chicago, my original hometown and went to my alma mater Whitney Youngster) , Scorsese, John Carpenter, George Romero, James Cameron and the list goes on. Guess I had too much time on my hands over the years.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was a teenager I got lost spelunking in Northern California with half a dozen other teenagers when we accidentally dropped one flashlight in a pit and then the batteries on the second flashlight died. I still can’t believe we found our way out in the dark. That was the closet I have ever seen to the group mind collapsing in on itself.

Teach, Learn, Share

Taught ESL in San Miguel De Allende,Mexico, trying to find a place where I can volunteer to help kids get computer literate, going to pick out a rescue dog as soon as I get a new house and try my best to make the dog happy.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The same things I try and share with everyone I meet, my love of literature, art, science and music.

Countries I’ve Visited
