About Me

I'm currently living in Harbin, China with my soon to be wife who is a doctor. I've been working here for almost two years as an English teacher for children. My wife is a Korean minority Chinese citizen who speaks fluent English, Chinese and Korean. We are both very friendly, though we can be quiet. Don't expect wild parties but we're really into nature, culture, hiking and general exploring of new places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My wife and I want to join Couchsurfing so that we can get a more real experience of life in foreign countries. We love to travel and find that interacting with local people is the best way of having an authentic taste of the culture of the land we're in. We only recently came across this website, otherwise we would've joined much earlier. We're moving to Australia within the next year, and we'd be more than willing to host those who want to come and enjoy the country's people and natural beauty.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've got a pretty diverse taste in music. Some of my favourite is a little bit geeky as I have a passion for classical music, traditional world music, as well as soundtracks to some of my favourite movies and videogames. I have a soft spot for heavy metal too.

I'm big into philosophical and spiritual books as I have a passion for learning about the world's religions and generally new ways of looking at the universe. I also enjoy a bit of fantasy and sci-fi on the side as well like the Lord of the Rings and A Song of Fire and Ice.

I don't have any particular favourite genre of movies but some of my favourites are ones that simply have a great story but also make you think. Christopher Nolan films are great for this, as an example.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moving to China and meeting my soulmate!

But also, an absolute highlight of my travelling life has been trekking the Annapurna trail in Nepal. A twenty day hike among some of the highest mountains in the world will always be with me.
