Overview
About Me
Creative restless unusual a bit different from the mob. Unconventional and easy going. Well informed, travelled heaps.
English father born Burma, Australian mother. Lived/ brought up in Colombo Sri Lanka but boarding school Adelaide travelling back and forth for Xmas holidays in ships. Then lived in London 3 years, didn't like the weather much, missed old mates, and came back to Oz. Then lots of hard work. It's been good and I have been fortunate. I own a business that trades and processes complex minerals and metals www.lewer.com.au
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Looking for coffee or dinner companion on my travels. I get lonely on my own. I hate it. I hate lonely weekends. I need to contribute substantially to household expenses if I couchsurf, since I am reasonably well off and it would not be correct if I did not contribute. But it's an experience and a pleasure to meet new people and to chat.
Interests
Music, art, theatre, more music, talking to people. Must converse because you learn so much and it's fun. Love dogs and gardens. Am practical-can sew, cook, make silver wear, leather work and timber furniture - it's all a bit rough. I still work full time and wont stop until I kick the bucket.

Music, Movies, and Books
Classical Bach and Handel. It's the mathematics that are so perfect. Was mad on rock once Elvis, Holly, Fats Domino etc but Royal Albert and Festival Halls London with Mahler concerts when I was 18-20 dramatically changed things. Still listen to Leonard Cohen. Queen etc. Books - all Somerset Maugham ( the written English is perfection) Orwell, Green,. Movies that make you think and reflect. Not mad on Hollywood movies. Special: 3 colours white/red/blue. Closely watched trains. Sounds old and dull but Casablanca is worth watching many times. Brilliant, and it was made during the war as a propaganda film!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being charged by an elephant aged 13 and he nearly trampled me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can tell some wonderful stories about life. Mad about good architecture and good design. If you are going to do something it must be well done, then it is satisfying. Good advice about LIFE is this - "when in doubt always take the bold move"
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversation. I say to my family and friends - no effort is ever wasted. You always learn something new or different, - even if it reinforces a negative it has value.
