About Me

KINDLY READ THIS IN ITS ENTIRETY.

2 night maximum. Perhaps more, but I can't guarantee it before hand.

I LOVE HOSTING, BUT ONLY OCCASIONALLY. IF I TURN YOU DOWN IT'S NOTHING PERSONAL, AND BASED SOLELY ON WANTING TO HAVE MY APARTMENT FOR MYSELF,
HAPPY TRAVELS!
I am NOT a city tour guide. I'll give you all the help you want, but won't be able to accompany you through the city. Depending on my work schedule and your plans, I might be able to hang out, etc.
It would be helpful if you have plans or a schedule for your visit.
References are appreciated.

MY SECOND BEDROOM IS FOR ONE PERSON ONLY! That's ONE ONLY! NO COUPLES.
As I often travel alone, I want help others out doing the same.

I'm born and raised in N.Y. and moved to Amsterdam in 1985 where I'm working as a professional musician. I have done extensive traveling both on vacation and as a musician. I try to combine the two. If I'm on tour and the situation allows it, I'll try to stay for a while after the work is over.

My favorite country to travel in is India. A magical place. Beautiful colors, smells, people, landscapes. Lots of poverty, but even more beauty and I have always felt extremely safe even in the middle of a huge city. People are always very happy to meet you especially in the smaller towns and the South in particular.
I like my coffee a lot. I drink almost no alcohol and use no drugs. If you're coming to Amsterdam to party hearty and/or use hard drugs, please find another place to stay. It's your vacation (and you can do what you want) BUT if you find another place to sleep during your stay at my home, please send me an app by 3am or so. Recently, a guest ate a half a space cake. I ended up in the emergency room with them. NO FUN! Please note, I'm not a medical practitioner.

IF YOU'VE HAD FUN AND ENJOYED MY PLACE CONSIDER GIVING A SMALL CONTRIBUTION TO:
Stichting Beerte te Maarn

This is a Dutch foundation that provides a last home to very old, sick cats to make their last days as nice as possible. Their costs are enormous.
I contribute to them regularly.
Unfortunately, their site is only in Dutch. Even a contribution of €5, will be helpful.
I will not know who contributes and who doesn't. It's an honorable foundation. 100% of the funds goes directly to the home and the cats and their needs.
Any contribution would be gratefully received!!!
Thank you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It would be nice to meet some new people and a hotel is a hotel. A home is much nicer and having a host that knows the area is a big plus. Hotels are generally the same all over the world. Some are better than others, but basically, they're a really expensive bed.
At this point, I've only been a CS guest twice, but I've been a host over 85 times and all of my experiences have all been excellent or at the very least, interesting.
My spanish is not excellent, but English and Dutch are fine and a few words of German as well.
