Overview
About Me
Hi, I am a South Korean international student in the United States, studying Urban and Regional Studies. I love to travel around the world, and am particularly interested in meeting different people, experiencing new things, and pushing myself out of comfort zone.
In terms of character I'm more of reserved, but also capable of getting crazy when it matters ;)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The idea of immersing myself in different cultures and heritage has always fascinated me, which is also why I decided to leave my home country, study and travel around the world. After travelling for a while I realized that visiting a city/country without meeting and interacting with local people is a sightseeing without any true, essential experience. I think Couchsurfing is really a fantastic way to engage with others and share a bit of each other's life.
Well, this is a kind of dull intro, but indeed true.
I'd love to be a host too--but it will only become possible after I become independent..
Interests
As an urban studies major I am very much interested in knowing the character and hidden gems of the city that I am visiting. Experiencing a new city is always fascinating.
I love the exchange of ideas, discussions and debates, especially about political, historical, and philosophical topics.
I can't tell enough of the importance of food and eating in my travels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
From October 2013 to May 2014, I served as a UN peacekeeper in South Sudan (UNMISS). It was a difficult period for the country as it went into a civil war just after two months of my arrival. Our struggle for justice and humanitarian efforts was a tantamount challenge, and is a memory that I will always keep in my heart.
Teach, Learn, Share
Currently hoping to improve my :
- knowledge of wind, beer, and whiskey
- Italian
- piano skills
- singing; I'd love to be able to sing better
