I have just finished Med School in Innsbruck and I will start doing my military duty in September. So there is plenty of time, which has to be used, of course, for going on a trip. The plan is to visit Canada and Mexico together with my girlfriend Elisabeth. I am really excited to be now a member of Couchsurfing and to start traveling the world in a new way!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It was my sister Sarah, who brought up the idea of Couchsurfing, since she has been a member for a few years (and surfed many couches;-)). I like the concept of getting a place to sleep and meeting interesting people at the same time. Also I think that it is a fascinating way of discovering a country by not just reading guide books, but by getting it told and maybe also shown by locals.

Interests

I have always been fond of sports. I have been a member in several sports clubs, such as volleyball, soccer, alpine skiing, badminton, swimming and more... Spending time in nature and going on hikes in the Austrian mountains are the things I love.
But if it comes to doing nothing and spending a lazy day on the couch I can be a real pro too!

Music, Movies, and Books

When I was younger I used to listen to a lot of classic rock music, but by now i can enjoy nearly every kind of music, if it is good. Speaking of movies and books I really like the Game of Thrones Series (and of course the books of George R.R. Martin), Breaking Bad, nearly all films of Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino, the Lord of the Rings (books and films) and Star Wars (who doesn't love Star Wars?).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There is not the "one amazing thing" I have done, but I have been up to quite a few things. One great experience was going to Ethiopia to search for the ancenstors of my little adopted cousin. I have also been playing for the Austrian Beach Volleyball team for a few years. Travelling, diving and watching Orang-Utans in Indonesia 2 years ago was also one of my favourite experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

If someone really wants to learn something from me, I can teach you how to play volleyball or how to ski - i have been instructor in both. And I can show the Austrian Alps to people, who are interested in hiking tours over here ;-)
