I'm a 24 year old 'Brit' now living and teaching English in Nanning, China.

I've been in Nanning for almost a year and a half; while its not a famous or compelling city, its beautifully green, surrounded by the stunning 'karst' landscape and the locals are very welcoming. Nanning is a very comfortable and homely city, and i'm already begining to feel like a local here.

I moved abroad after graduating to challenge myself and grab the opportunity while I am free of the burdens. Living abroad, i've been able to travel, earn a living and gain invaluable life and work related experience all while having great fun! It really has been life changing, and after initially telling myself i'd only be out here for a year, I'm addicted to life abroad and wondering where i'll head to next...

I play Sports whenever possible (Football, Tennis, Basketball, Swimming, Rock Climbing...), plan regular day trips to explore the Guangxi province and i'm always interested in some wild swimming or hiking. I'm a Christian, and currently interested in self-improvement and health.

Hosting -

I've made it my mission to learn Chinese and explore Nanning and Guangxi at every opportunity, so I feel like I know the city very well and i'm fully capable of looking after myself and guests. I've had my brother and four of my English friends stay with me on different occasions, I really enjoyed hosting them and realised i'd love to have more people come and stay. I've got a spare double bedroom and a large sofa, and it would be a pleasure to host and show you around my city.

Surfing -

For me it's all about making friends and having fun new experiences, and all while getting expert advice from a local to make your trip that much better.

And in December I will have completed my first contract in China, and will reward myself with a month (or two) travelling around South-East Asia. I've not made plans yet, but i'm aiming to hitch hike, couch surf and hike as much as possible :)

I don't watch many movies or TV, but i make up for that with reading. I've read Tolkein, C.S. Lewis and Terry Pratchett to just name a few.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to a side of the world that i'd never been, where they speak a language that I did not know, started a job that i'd never done, with people that i'd never met.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a High School English teacher and I will pass on any Chinese you wish to learn and insight into local life, cuisine and culture.

Always trying to learn new skills, whether it's languages, sports or instruments. My current projects include reading Chinese, pushing my comfort zone, Yoga and Cooking. Future projects include Spanish, the Piano and Skating.
