One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked at an animal sanctuary in a remote part of the Bolivian Jungle for 5 weeks during a 16 month backpacking trip. The animal sanctuary had all kinds of animals such as monkeys, birds and marsupials but the big cats were the highlight. They had 23 Pumas and 4 Jaguars. I worked as a Puma Walker (which is exactly what it sounds like). A partner and I would walk our puma on a leash for 2-3 hours every day through 800 hectares of jungle. I came away from the experience with a real appreciation for animal protection and a puma bite mark on my thigh!
