Chi sono

Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing

My girlfriend and I are about to embark on a huge trip and we heard many travellers recommend the couchsurfing method. We would like to meet local people during our trip, not just tourist guides, so here we are. We've travelled before, but we're completely new to this website!

Interessi

I mostly enjoy travelling to new places, and learning from it all. I also like rock climbing, scuba diving, and science-fiction & fantasy in movies and books. I used to work in a nightclub as a barman and DJ a bit on the side, so I've been to a fair share of parties as well.

Musica, film e libri

I listen to lots of stuff, but I have a soft spot for psytrance (Atma, Digicult, Sonic Elysium to name a few). I also like all sorts of rock music and electronic. I'm only allergic to RnB.

As far as movies go I'm quite into sci-fi & fantasy. I was born into the original Star Wars trilogy and have worshipped it since I was 8.

As for books, I really love books the "Hitchhiker's Guide" series by Douglas Adams. I also devoured almost everything I could find by Isaac Asimov and JRR Tolkien. One of my latest favorites has been "His Dark Materials" trilogy by Philip Pullman.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

In 2007 I participated in a three-week "work camp" organized in Vietnam by a swiss NGO. After several months of fundraising, our group (there were about a dozen of us) went over there to help on a construction project in an orphanage in Kontum, in the southern highlands. Things got bogged down with the local administration and the building materials didn't arrive, so we ended up doing animation work with the kids: teaching some english and learning some vietnamese, doing origami, singing songs, helping in the garden and playing with the cows out back. We had a blast, and so did the kids. It was a touching and defining experience for me, and truly helped spark my love for travelling.

Insegna, impara, condividi

I could teach you all sorts of weird little facts about Switzerland, but really I'd rather exchange some travel tips. We're no experts, but we've been around some and would love to learn from other people's experiences.

Or else we could share a drink!
