About Me

Meeting and interacting with people from other places and walks of life are my greatest pleasure in life. My money and ability to travel are limited, so what better way to meet people from all over the world than to have them come to me. I am an advocate of nudism - what a free feeling - but other members of my family do not necessarily share that love. If you are a “naturalist” you are welcome to practice it at my place when we have no other company. I only mention this as I have seen it mentioned in other posts. I will do whatever it takes to make you comfortable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet people, share my part of the world, and experience their part of the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I play the piano, albeit rather poorly, and own two grand pianos, a spinet and two Yamaha keyboards.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have rafted the Futalafu River in northern Patagonia, Chile, with Earth River Expeditions and personally rowed a raft down the Colorado River in Grand Canyon on a private trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have worked as a guide for several years and would love to share my knowledge of local history, current events, and the area with you for free. Our town is the gateway to Baxter State Park, Maine's largest state park, which includes the state's highest mountain, Katahdin. I also am familiar with trails, waterways, and outdoor recreation in general, having worked for the New England Outdoor Center (neoc.com) for over 30 years. I can share my "couch" at our seasonal cottage year-round, but be aware that in the winter the private 5-mile road can be quite slippery. The cottage is located on 6 interconnected lakes with a fascinating history regarding the log drives of yesteryear. In the summer, I will take you by boat to a museum about the log drives if you have time. In the winter there are “world class” Nordic ski trails nearby.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my enthusiasm and curiosity about nearly everything. I am quite verbal, so conversations will not be a challenge. Oh yes, I do stop to listen and learn from others as well. I know quite a bit about the State of Maine in the United States having worked in the tourism industry for years and traveled with the State of Maine Tourist Information Booth in major cities across the United
States.

I work as a janitor so will be happy to help hosts keep their home clean and pitch in with dishes, mopping, scrubbing, etc. Just let me know how much you would like me to participate in these activities.

Australia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, France, Germany, New Zealand, Spain
