Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As of right now I can participate by surfing, however when I move to a new place in August I may be able to host in the future. I would especially like to surf in new places in the USA and Canada.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed once before when my friend Kevin and I went to see a Sleigh Bells concert in Iowa City. It was a great experience meeting a local physics grad student attending the University of Iowa. The concert was really awesome I was really glad that I didn't miss the opportunity see as the were not touring through WI at the time. Unfortunately our host could not attend the concert but she was a very accommodating host. The next morning we went to great breakfast place and I had a delicious salmon benedict for breakfast.

Interests

During my spare time I enjoy traveling, reading, eating and cooking, painting, watching movies or TV, going to concerts, swimming, weight lifting, and racquetball. Last year I joined an IGRAB rugby team and have a had lot of fun learning how to play the sport and more recently attended an international tournament in Manchester, England. Being in this tournament was a really awesome experience playing people from several different countries and different parts of the US.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies - I don't have a nextflix account however so mostly confine myself to recent releases (ie. Avengers, Prometheus, and Hunger Games). I'm most excited about the new sequel to Blade Runner with Colin Farrel. I mostly listen to indie music -I just saw Robyn in at Summerfest, I will be seeing Hot Chip in Minneapolis this July, and I'm going to Lollapalooza this August. I mostly focus on reading fiction - I just finished BossyPants by Tina Fey (non-fiction in this case), which was really funny but I was also told that the audiobook is even more hilarious. I also recently finished Hunger Games and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, which were both really enjoyable easy summer reads. One of my favorite books that I read this year was Enrique's Journey, which is a harrowing tale of young boys dangerous Odyssey from Honduras to United States to find his mother who left him to find a better life in the US.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I biked across the US from Texas to Alaska with the Texas 4000 for Cancer to raise money for the American Cancer Society
I visited Machu Piccu and Cusco in Peru with a few friends of mine
I played my first international IGRAB rugby tournament in Manchester, England

Teach, Learn, Share

I really like to learn more about the places that I visit and also get good recommendations from people regarding what to do in that city. Especially in older cities, i enjoy learning about the history of the town or city.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Peru, United Kingdom
