ABOUT ME

I tend to be a bit on the quiet side and am pretty easy going. If I "click" with someone I think I can make some pretty interesting conversation.

Interests

Nature, hiking, video games. Academically, artificial intelligence! Not the shiny-mathematical-algorithms artificial intelligence that has been the focus of the majority of research (though that stuff is pretty cool), the original intention of the field: human-like artificial intelligence. That vague, fuzzy, possibly quixotic pursuit that hasn't really progressed much. But I believe it can!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was on a Boy Scout trip in the Florida Keys, and we were out on a floating dock at night, fishing for sharks. There were little bioluminescent organisms spinning around in the water. It was so peaceful. Then a barracuda swam around the dock and cut three of our lines at once.

Hiking in the Red Cuillins in Scotland with my Dad. The geography is so dramatic and dynamic, a 5 mile hike seems so much more impressive than in Appalachians.
