ABOUT ME
I'm an adventurer and I'm quick to smile. I have many different interests that lead me to strange paths. I'm not afraid of talking to people although at times I can be very quiet. Give me a few beers and I'll tell you my life story and I'll wake up the next morning and tell you about my dreams since I dream every night. I'm quite resourceful and have managed to succeed in anything I really wanted.
PHILOSOPHY
"Chillax. Take a bath. Have sex." Not a direct quote but I got the idea for an ideal life from reading Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I was surfing with people in Japan. I'm back home now but off traveling again! Yeah! I also end up staying with folks who aren't on couch surfing but still lend me their couches.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Japan was amazing. For a culture that is very private, it was great to meet so many people who were willing to open up their homes to me. It reminds me of a TED Talk by Amanda Palmer (of Dresden Dolls) about the power of asking. Couchsurfing seems to make this work so well. I hope that one day, folks would stay at my place. My schedule is so erratic and I live outside of downtown Vancouver.
Interests
I get involved in political discussions easily but I have no interest in it. It's due to my job. Outside of that I really enjoy dancing and learning about new cultures. I enjoy the experiences both good and bad since they shape me. Generally, I like playing video games and watching anime although I do less and less of that now that I spend all day in front of a computer. Going outside, exploring, and yoga relaxes me. I am an active dodgeball player with the Vancouver Dodgeball League and play Ultimate with the Vancouver Ultimate League. I really like riding my bike.

Music, Movies, and Books
There are many wonderful movies, music, and books I've come across in my life. I am just going with a bunch off the top of my head.
Forrest Gump, Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, On Nature of Things by Lucretius, Shogun, Star Wars, Star Trek, Ghost in the Shell, Evangelion, Kiki's Delivery Service, Kishi Bashi, Kimbra, Siddhartha (Hesse), Clan of the Cave Bear, Dune, Nobuo Uematsu, American Gods, A Wrinkle in Time, Wicked, Lord of The Rings, Harry Potter, Leon (the Professional), God of Gamblers, Akira, Grave of Fireflies...I think 2 minutes is up for my brain.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1. I was on a tour through southern Yunnan Province, China in mid-October. The weather was fair although clouds were starting to form. We were driving up a mountain to hike around a large lake situated about 2500m above sea level. It started to thunder and pour down on us and it cooled the whole forest down. While the rest of the tour group tried to avoid the rain, I ran outside and snapped some photos of the thunderstorm rolling over a lush green valley. I felt like I was transported back into ancient China, trapped in a watercolour painting.
2. The first day I arrived in Nagoya for English teaching, I ended up in an izakaya for food mostly because they had pictures. I didn't know how to speak Japanese at the time but the staff were very helpful and so were the patrons. Soon I was drunk on Asahi and babbling bad Japanese all around. Everyone was so friendly and genuinely grateful I was with them. The salarimen paid for my meal.
3. The Forbidden City in Beijing. There are no words to describe it.
