ABOUT ME

Friendly, outgoing, widely-travelled.

In terms of work, I am a university professor working in international public health, and specializing in adolescent health, HIV prevention and treatment, and intervention evaluation. My work takes me to many places, especially in Africa, Europe and North America, but occasionally elsewhere. I originally studied medicine at Oxford, but have concentrated on public health research and teaching for over 30 years.

I grew up in West Africa, but studied in UK from the age of 8. My father was British and my mother Canadian.

I am married with two teenage children, and we live in a 14th century house in an English village.

I used to do lots of standard sports plus rock and snow & ice climbing when I was younger, but now limit myself to playing village cricket, going for walks with our dogs, and gardening.

I love to travel and to get to know people from different cultures.

Watching my son dance at the Royal Opera House in London.
Listening to my daughter playing my favorite Bach and Brahms cello sonatas.
