About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To proceed in the most indirect manner possible so as to understand some iota of the unconventionally non-trivial experience my existence has planted in front of me
ABOUT ME
I am a PhD physics student at UC San Diego. I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2009.
I enjoy the outdoors. A lot- whitewater kayaking, backpacking, and climbing, etc.
I lived in a co-op (until May 2009):
I am a fierce advocate of sustainable living, equality of opportunity, and the judgment of human beings as individuals, and not as anonymous members of a non-descript grouping (race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc.).
I am a vegetarian.
I am not liking definitive statements that concisely pinpoint who "I am."
Shit!
Large amounts of people going ape-shit scare me. A small amount of strange individuals doing their thing makes me go ape-shit.
The stranger, the stranger, the better.
Define normality.
Define a lot of other thing.
Actually, definitions are for analytic philosophers who go insane over syntactical meaning and for laymen who couldn't care less.
Physics. Philosophy. Physics.
Physics. I do physics.
Biking.
No cars, if possible.
I am an atheist (oh no!).
Some people get depressed by Pittsburgh's weather. I think it's funny.
Other things depress me though. I am not special.
I think I am special, so bear with me.
MUSIC-DANCING.
This "all about you" section has degenerated into absolute mish-mash.
I also probably fit a lot of the "What White People Like" list elements.
PHILOSOPHY
These categories are too inter-related. See above. Philosophy untested and unformalized is opinionated bullshit. Tested and formalized philosophy is...less opinionated bullshit.
Either way, know what you think. Ambiguity in opinion or beliefs is usually, in my experiences, a result of apathy and a lack of critical thinking.
Do you believe in God? What are you here to do? People say these are hard questions and feel uncomfortable answering them- if they seem so important, why the lack of consideration? Do no dilly-dally. Spend the time to think.
But on that note don't let thoughts ferment uncorroborated by others' experiences and empirical experience.
Speaking of philosophy, we have, on our book shelves:
Kant, William James, Nietzsche, Plato, Hume, Rorty, Quine, Russell, Martinich, Descartes, Locke, and Abel. We haven't read ALL of them...
Might as well mention some of the poets, as they have their own little views too:
Donne, Frost, T.S. Eliot, Keats, and Walcott, if I can get my hands on some of his poems...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My (really our, the co-op's) living room is open to as many individuals as desired. You will have a memorable experience, and I hope I will too. Life can't be about moments of forgetfulness, and meaningless passing-bys- then you only have your own brain to corroborate your opinions.
We expect those who come to the co-op to provide interesting conversations or atmospheres in exchange for the couch.
And when I visit someone else's place, I hope I will repay you too, in the same way as I mentioned above. Let the world interconnect!

Music, Movies, and Books
Don't even get me started.
Ok, ok, I'll list a few:
Favorite book series: Hyperion Cantos (Dan Simmons)
Favorite film: I am far under-educated in film studies. I don't feel comfortable telling you my favorite film because there are probably more out there I would enjoy more (though I guess every category should be put this way)
Favorite music: Love to dance, so electronic (went to Ultra Music Festival in Miami 2009 for this!), but I love indie (of course), and a lot of jam bands. Classical music is on in our apartment once a week to keep us tethered to the ground.
