About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I working at FOI since fall 2017 after finishing my PhD in bioinformatics at Umeå university in May 2017. I also recently moved downtown to a very nice and renovated three room apartment located on the east side of the city and now share the flat with one other person. After being settled in my new flat I will start planning on a longer trip either to south america, or back to south east asia, plus australia and new zeeland. However the so far great winter (first in a long time) means a couple of trips to the montains first :D. For a long period of time I did not have many surfers on visit, but now I’m looking forward to change that during spring 2019!
ABOUT ME
I'm an easy going person, and I like music, sports, outdoor stuff, winter sports etc. I'm spending most of my free time doing different sports on IKSU, such as climbing beachvolley squash floorball etc. I also love travelling, and I have been around a lot in Europe, both inter-railing in 2003 going around europe by train, and a one months road trip this summer 2015, with a lot of nice couchsurfing experiences :) References to those trips can be found on Charlies profile (she is in my friends list). I have also been in Mexico, USA and south east Asia and Calgary Canada. The most recent trips went to Budapest, Stuttgart, Copenhagen Gothenburg and a great fishing trip to Fröja outside Trondheim in Norway!
Feel free to contact me if you just wanna hang out, but of course also if you need a bed for a few nights. I'm up for any activities like going on a weekend hike, visiting the local pubs or just hanging out and watch a movie or chat.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I just got a new roommate for my extra room which means it will be a little more tricky to host people, however I will still try to host as many lovely (all I met so far has been so great) surfers as often as I can, but try to let me know some time in advance :) Couchsurfing is such a great way of meeting new people, and I met many new friends through here.
I usually try to participate in the Sunday Fika organised in Umeå to meet local surfers from the area.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Ive had only great experiences so far, I started with surfing in San Diego and had a fantastic host, he also inspired me to start hosting when I got back home. Since then I had quite a few visitors and I've always had a great time.
But from previous experience I will shortly tell what I hope to get by doing couchsurfing instead of staying in hostels.
Other experiences
After my interail-trip(see amazing things) I realized unfortunately, that meetings with new people were often so short they did not last for long. With couchsurfing I hope to get the same experience with meeting new people but hopefully its easier to get a friendship lasting for a long time. I also missed the actual culture integration in the countries when one had to stay with other travelers from all over the world. One night I stayed with a family in Croatia and that gave a whole different experience. I also stayed a few days with some friends in Hungary and immediately felt another relation to the culture and the living.

Music, Movies, and Books
I prefer indie music, but listen to everything as long as I enjoy the song. I like action and horror movies, but also here I can enjoy a good Sci-fi or Romance movie. I did pretty recently by a record player and I now also have a small collection of records (LP) that I love playing. It includes a lot of 70s rock, blues and some more recent indie rock music. What is your favorite music? Do you have a great underestimated band that I can discover from your local area?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went for a one month Inter-rail in east Europe, visiting many countries meeting loads of interesting people. I also more recently the summer 2015 bought a van with two friends and did a one month road trip through middle europe. Again such an amazing trip and we met soo many nice and cool people :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to do all of these, share travel experiences learn about any subject, it is lovely to discuss important questions and so interesing to here and understand different views. If I can and have the time I'd love to teach if there is anything I know that is in your interest :), but of course it depends on my working schedule and overall free time. This is something we can discuss if you are interested in staying here, or if I'm about to come visit.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Great conversations about anything and everything, Swedish traditions and food, positivism, a relaxed atmosphere where you can feel home, good contacts within Umeå. I love to cook so I can put up a nice meal, either my new favorite dishes (since my trip to South east asia summer 2010) wook of any sort. Or something traditional Swedish of your liking :)
