Hi!

My name is David, I am currently working as a social worker in Amsterdam.
Currently I am travelling with my girlfriend Sammy in the United States, Canada & Central America. In May we are traveling around the USA by Amtrak train and hitchhiking. Sammy and I met while studying Cultural Anthropology in Amsterdam. Sammy is learning to become a documentary film maker, last year she made her first film about the Lindisfarne Causeway in the North of Great-Britain.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During my travels in the United States, Canada & Australia I had some wonderful Couchsurfing experiences. Staying with locals is in my experience the best way to get to know and explore new places. Sammy and I have a very broad interest in different ways people are living all around the world. We would like to explore if we can make use of the Couchsurfing platform again. We are both tripple vaccinated.

Sammy and I just moved into a new place in the center of Amsterdam, so when we will get back from our travels, we can begin hosting in our spare room for the first time on Couchsurfing and give something back to the community.

Interests

Sammy and I have a very broad interested in the world, and in the human and non-human actors that the world inhabits.
We love the sea, strolling around at beaches, listining to jazz music, watching documentaries at documentary festivals, hitchhiking, siting around campfires, camping, playing bordgames, looking out of the window from inside trains and visit festivals with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

We both enjoy reading a lot.
Some of our favorite writers are Kerouac, Paustovski and Remarque.
We also enjoy Garcia Marquez, Thomas Mann. David just started in Anna Karenina. David likes books about hiking adventures and Sammy enjoys reading poetry.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We enjoy hitchiking as a way of travel. Together all over Europe (West, East, Into Morroco and Georgia), David around Australia and From San Fransisco to Vancouver and further east across Canada to Montreal. In our experience hitchhiking is one of the best ways of traveling. It is just like Couchsurfing, a way to get to know people and places.
