ABOUT ME
David Scott Brown sings the music of The Great American Songbook. These enduring songs from the 1920′s through the 1950′s make up the canon of the most important and most influential American popular songs of the 20th century – principally from Broadway theater, musical theater, and Hollywood musical film. The key songwriters of this music include Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Cole Porter, and Harold Arlen, according to the songwriter and critic Alec Wilder in his 1972 book American Popular Song: The Great Innovators, 1900–1950.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was on top of the Feldberg in Germany at first light and saw the Alps in the distance. I watched the sunrise and thought about all the myriad possibilities in life. Another moment I remember is walking out the the art gallery in Budapest and feeling overwhelmed by the beauty of life as I looked over the city and reflected on what I saw.... Recently I was in an art museum in Chicago and became enraptured by the painting The Song of the Lark. A young woman stops from her labors in the fields to listen to the music of the lark. It makes me think of how I find it so important to take a break from work to enjoy the musical moment.
