About Me

Currently travelling ourselves, so for the moment we cannot host you guys!

Born in '80, living in Ghent, married to David. That's the short version :-)

I love to travel, love to laugh, love to live. Sometimes I step outside of my comfortzone. Which can be scary, but I've learned that great experiences can come out of this.
the world and its people is going trough some hard times, but I still believe that every day can be beautiful and we need to make the most out of it.
I love nature, love to work (at Ghent University) and get appreciated for it, love to give appreciation to others. I believe that we can help the world heal from its wounds, as long as we all make a little effort.
I try to keep up with things to help our environment, although I think there is still much to learn. Eating healthy is also something that I try to do. I'm a flexitarian, trying to eat more vegetarian and vegan.

From 2009 I have occasionally been travelling the world with my best friend, my lover, my soul mate: David. In 2015-16 we took a year off from work and explored the countries in Central-America, Colombia and Thailand. We returned home one year later with a lot of great stories!

we would like to meet people from over the whole world, and we like to be amazed. and we can be amazed by a lot of things, big or small.
we don't smoke, don't do drugs but we do like a good beer (we're Belgians after all :-) ) or a glass of wine.

so far we've been to Mexico, Barcelona, New Zealand, Singapore, Marrakesh, Indonesia (Java and Bali), Amsterdam, Cuba, Senegal, South-Africa, the Caribbean (Dutch Antilles), Taiwan, Lapland, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Thailand, Estonia and Latvia, Portugal, Martinique, Dominica, Georgia, California... and still going :-) we're excited to plan our next trip!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people from all over the world offcourse!

Interests

I've started a photography course and now I'm trying to shoot some nice pics with my new camera. I'm still learning!

I like cooking; I'm always up for some new recipes. We've learned about vegetarism and I'm currently trying out some vegan dishes. I am flexitarian, with a higher conscience for healthy foods.

I also love to learn about the history, culture and nature of your country. talking to people is way more interesting than reading about it in a book or travel guide!

I hope to improve my Spanish; I took a course when I was 19 and I spoke it with Mexicans and Cubans, but I really need more practice. It is a lovely language, isn't it?
(In the meanwhile we studied Spanish in Guatemala for 3 weeks in one-on-one classes, which was intens but really fun. Now we're able to get around and have fun conversations with Spanish-speaking friends on our way)

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not a good dancer, but I'll try to shake it if I hear dance music. I've tried salsa once, but I need more than a lot of practice haha. you'll also find some pop-rock on my mp3-player.

I started reading books only recently, and for the moment I'm reading those cheesy chicklit books à la Jojo Moyes. Any tips to level up my reading game??

Movies, on the other hand, I do watch a lot. apart from the Steven Segal movies, I think I watch almost everything; although I'm not sure I will continue watching a lot of movies once we're on the road. a television is good when you live in rainy Belgium, but once exploring the world... :-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- the most thrilling thing I've done so far is a skydive in New Zealand. OMG!
- snorkling in the Caribbean, beautiful! had a peaceful yet exciting encounter with turtles
- safari in South-Africa. aaah no words can describe the feeling I had when I made eye contact with a lion... he was so gorgeous!
- travelling for 10 months non-stop
- an intensive yoga course on Koh Phangan which was a true life changing experience
- Carnaval in the Carribean, must-do-once-in-a-lifetime!!
- organizing a vacation for myself and 5 friends without them knowing what the destination is. And keeping it a secret for over 10 months! (It was California btw)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm eager to learn: every day can bring something new.
During our travels we've come to learn abouth (healthy) food and the corelation between our body and what we feed it. Trying to cook accordingly but it's still a work in progress. Seeing people cook all over the world inspires me.
