About Me

Traveling Dec 5-11, Dec 23 -Jan 2. Sorry, can't host those days!

CURRENT MISSION

Improving the world by one percent.

ABOUT ME

I'm an scientist working at the US Department of Energy. My job is to figure out new places to develop focused research programs and to help implement existing programs.

I'm go to burning man. I live in a big house people from my burning man camp, which is totally awesome.

I love surfing! If I'm going surfing on a day you're staying with me, you should come along. I totally promise an epic experience

I keep an awesome log. I like dancing ridiculously, and so I don't like clubs typically, except for Bootie LA, because they don't care if you dance ridiculously. I love to cook, especially with sweet potatoes..

I'm allergic to cats. Which is unfortunate because they're adorable.

PHILOSOPHY

Happiness is a choice. The best one. So do what you want to do, and maybe get a paid a little and it'll all work out. Also, regular yoga for balance and flexibility.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I understand it:
Sometimes you stay with me, sometimes I stay with you, it's awesome, I write it down in my awesome log.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A Danish dude appeared in my apartment one day, a couchsurfer found by my flatmate. He stayed with us for three weeks. Two years later I visited him over the Easter holiday in Copenhagen.

For three months I surfed every weekend, different places in Europe, had a lot of experiences, mostly good.

Didn't have much time for it in grad school. Hoping to host a bit more in DC

Interests

The problem of global energy sustainability one Quadrillion BTU's at a time. My job is to figure out how we can solve this

I like colors. Bright ones.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like Casablanca. And The Five Obstructions. Sin City.
For just relaxing, ridiculous action movies are my favorites. Like Demolition Man and Total Recall.
I listen to plenty of electronica these days and some punk rock from my youth
Haruki Murakami.
Albert Camus. The Rebel and The Stranger.
I have favorite Physics text books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I flew on the red eye from Seattle on the fourth of July. Part of me wished I had stayed another day, even if it was an extra hundred bucks for a July 5th ticket. But then I looked out the window. Beautiful - hundreds, thousands of colored flowers, fireworks set of by a thousand different people, blooming in and disintegrating. It was spectacular.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm good at teaching people physics. Being a labrat gives me a range of basic constructions skills (plumbing, machining, electronics) and a range of more specific skills and lore related to micro and nanofabrication. I could show you how to use a Scanning Electron Microscope or a plasma etcher or a metal evaporator or a ....

I built a 30 foot tall sculpture with a Tesla coil inside:
