About Me

I finally made it across the Atlantic Ocean after 20 years of putting off travel. I've been working in hostels for 8 years and finally became the hosteler. I am looking into learning how to teach English abroad, maybe in France or Italy, and learn French or Italian. I am often interested in people who are searching for more in life or are in a transitional place. I love to talk about ideas that inspire and learn about what others think and feel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was recommended to couchsurf by a friend who has done it and met great people along her travels. I want to experience the best of a town or city I am visiting especially with a local who might know cool places that might not be on a tour.

Interests

I love to walk about and explore new places. I love to drink the local beer of whatever town I'm visiting. I'm always in for dancing or live music. Sometimes I like to take tours and learn about history and sometimes I like to get lost and stumble upon something unique (or use Google maps and find something unique) :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was with a woman when she passed away. I used to work in nursing homes and hospitals in my mid-twenties. At the end of the evening shift while we were having our meeting about the day the head nurse told us to say our good-byes to Gertrude before going home. After everyone had said good-bye I went into see her. There was a man working for hospice sitting with her until she was to go. She looked scared and didn't speak. She looked frozen. I placed my hand on her forehead and her whole body relaxed. A tear fell down her cheek. The man said to me, "she must know you." I smiled. After a minute he left the room. As I continued to caress her forehead I felt a well of emotion rush through me and cried. After a moment I realized she was gone. It was one of the most important moments of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn French, Spanish and possibly Italian. I want to learn how the rest of world thinks, feels and lives. I love learning new words in any language. I have met many people in my travels and work and have a lot of insights to offer others. I have enthusiasm for life and that can be contagious or inspiring. I want to be inspired as well. I can play the violin and have learned to read auras. Dancing is one of my most engaging activities.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am good at cleaning and organizing. I enjoy cooking with others. I am an easy guest to keep; I like to socialize but also explore on my own.
