I visited ios (Greece) in summer 5 years ago with a tour, I decided that it was a good idea to rent a moped instead of a normal quad bike. After renting this moped I needed to go into town to try and fix my phone, while I was driving through the mountain I found myself entering the apex of a corner where the whole moped had slipped from underneath my feet due to loss of traction. I then stood up and noticed that my arm was not exactly sitting on my shoulder and instead completely dislocated, I found myself holding my arm and trying to lift the moped from the middle of the road, after struggling for a good 15 minutes I waited for help where a stranger came and helped me with my bike, after some time another man came and rushed me to hospital. I arrived in hospital where I was treated like a piece of excrement, while having trouble walking and having exposed wounds on all my feet and legs, the doctor made me walk on what I believe was beach sand throughout the entire hospital until I reached my hospital bed. Once I was settled they had asked me where I was staying, without a phone and no recollection of the hotel name I was clueless. After several attempts I finally managed to remember a name close to the hotel I was staying at and the tour manager came as soon as possible. I was left on the bed for several hours while the doctor decided to go outside and have a cigarette while I sat in pain waiting. Finally after some time the doctor had popped my shoulder back into place but then advised that I will need an MRI in order to check if I had any damage and that I should call my insurance company to tell them I fell. After asking the cost I was shocked to hear that this doctor wanted to take 6000euros in cash from me to do an MRI. After this I said no and got a second opinion from a local Australian doctor where he checked my arm and advised that this local hospital is running a scam for tourists. The moral of this story is to take my experience and make sure you are careful and think twice when you rent anything in Greece 🇬🇷
