About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding new directions in life after having both separately raised families who have now grown up and moved away.

ABOUT ME

D - I was brought up on a farm in England, and still feel a great affinity with the countryside. My work is in the city, so that's where I live, and I enjoy both. But in weekends and holiday times I'm likely to be bush walking / camping / traveling in the countryside.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

D - Have hosted many times under a different id (together with my ex-wife, Linnea), when we lived in NZ. Check out the references on the CS id that we used to share (KLEONZ) - several of them are for the two of us together. Also hosted with a similar organisation, Servas, for over 20 years. Have also surfed a few times.

C - new to couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

D - Favourite book - "The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse" by Robert Rankin. With a title like that, it would have to be really good or really bad. Brilliant satire on religion, politics and on a society that idolises nonentity celebrities. Just reading "Thinking Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman. Very thought-provoking.
Favorite Movies: In My Father's Den (NZ); Richard III (The version with Ian McKellen, brilliantly set in the 1930s).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Only one!?
D - sat at dawn by a waterfall in a forest, enjoying the tranquility, but appalled at the detritus left behind by previous tourists. The experience inspired me to start a business selling environmentally-friendlier goods.

Teach, Learn, Share

D - Having been an English language teacher and a long term host to overseas students who were learning English, I'm used to giving assistance with the language.
