Overview
About Me
I'm David and I'm a professional owl chaser and squirrel squeezer (wildlife conservation). I've been couchsurfing a long time and it's always a great way to meet some cool local people and get to know a place better than you might have otherwise. I'm going to be moving from Ashland, OR to the Salinas Valley, CA in January 2024 so I probably won't be hosting until I get a bit settled down there.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been active on Couchsurfing for almost 10 years now and it has really been great. It's a wonderful way to meet new people from around the world, explore the world, and share places you love. I've made lots of interesting friends in the Couchsurfing community in Kaohsiung, Taiwan where I hosted a meetup for locals and people from all around the world. I've also continued to surf and meet people since. I'd love to get back into hosting if I can finally start living somewhere people want to visit again!
Interests
I enjoy hiking, cycling, and travelling. Some of my less common hobbies include amateur paleontology and field herpetology (looking for fossils, reptiles, and amphibians).

Music, Movies, and Books
I like lots of movies music and books so I'm not sure where to end. I'll just list a few.
Movies: V For Vendetta, The Goonies, Kickass, The Princess Bride, Kill Bill, Slumdog Millionaire, Argo, Moonrise Kingdom, etc.
Music: Mostly older stuff especially the Beatles. Generally open to most things.
Books: Harry Potter, Crime and Punishment, To Kill a Mockingbird, Ender's Game, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I am always most amazed by places I go in nature. Some of these beautiful places include Niagara Falls, Ha Long Bay, and the clouds rolling down Lantau Peak on a crystal clear morning in Hong Kong, and watching the sunrise at Yushan, the tallest mountain in Taiwan.
Teach, Learn, Share
I worked for three years as an English teacher at a cram school in Taiwan. If you want to improve your English I'ld be happy to help. I can get by quite well in Mandarin, too. I also like to think my cooking isn't too bad.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you want I'd be happy to cook for you. I'm also able to help those looking to improve their English or just generally hang out and chat.
