I'm an attorney who specializes in human law -- I represent people and groups in disputes with corporations or the government. That includes environmental law, civil rights, and consumer law. I absolutely love to travel, for the adventure and to experience how people in different places, faced with the same basic questions and challenges, have come up with such creatively different answers. I've always been athletic, cycled across Oregon and through western Europe, hiked all over and kayaked in Alaska, now a beginner at yoga and exploring other ways of moving as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is singer-songwriter, one person and an instrument, followed by classical music and alternative rock. Movies: Magnolia, The English Patient, Shawshank, Judd Apatow comedies. Books: The Corrections, Infinite Jest, a lot of non-fiction like Predictably Irrational. I like books that teach me something.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A road trip all the way around the perimeter of the U.S. I took a sleeping bag and tent and a box full of world scripture, philosophy, anthropology and psychology; I'd read in the evening and then spend the next day driving, looking at the beautiful country, and thinking about what I'd read. It was a gift and a privilege to have that experience.
