About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Creating possibilities :-)

ABOUT ME

I'm a 38 year old gay guy who works for the federal government (shock) and have lived in Washington, DC since 2010.

In the past I've worked for the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund which works to recruit, train and elect openly LGBT officials to public office and in the U.S. Senate for both a member and a committee, have been a substitute teacher in a low-income school district in New York state, worked on a documentary about homeless gay youth in New York City and always have found time to travel, spend time with friends in cafes and lounges and pursue every possibility.

For fun.. well I guess you can read about that in "interests" :P

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy, without trying to sound too corny, is that life is full of possibilities. I believe in the quote that, "when one door closes, another opens" but further believe that too often we stare at the closed door and neglect to be struck by the one now open. Basically, life is full of possibilities when you share your hopes and dreams with others who help you to make them real :P

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A friend of mine mentioned couchsurfing to me but I didn't realize he was referring to an organized community with an online network. I was planning on backpacking through Europe this summer and when I spoke to my professor from Boston University he mentioned a program called Servas which is very similar to couchsurfing but promotes world peace through cultural understanding. I want to stay with a mix of people from both groups to socialize and experience cultures of the many different places I stay.

Interests

I love living in and visiting cities due to the unique personality each one has. In my free time, I tend to go to the movies, shopping, going to lounges, bars, clubs, restaurants, reading in a park and meeting new people all along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm somewhat of a political junkie so I tend to like books, movies and TV shows about politics (Veep, The West Wing, Parks & Rec). For movies I like political dramas as well as romantic comedies (chick flicks!) and V for Vendetta, Rendition, Girl, Interrupted are just a few of those. I'm eclectic with music but tend to like pop and indie-pop (read: that obscure band's one popular song).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was placed in a dorm with a Roman-Catholic, religious, conservative, straight boy from Florence Italy whereas I was a gay, Jewish but atheist, liberal boy from New Jersey and while we started out as bitter enemies we are now the best of friends.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Tunisia

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, United States
