About Me

I am a masters student at the University of Cape Town, studying sustainable mineral development. I am incredibly interested in different places and cultures, understanding how people exist in different settings and situations. I grew up in Nairobi and Cape Town and love travelling. I also love music and being social. Also, I really love being active and being outside. Football, hiking, surfing, ji-jitsu, rock climbing, anything really.
I enjoy talking and reading and drinking and being. Very easy going guy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couch surfing because it allows you to meet real life people in the cities that you travel to, and its cheaper, and funner. Its also nice acting like a normal person when in another city, and meeting normal peoples.

Music: The classic rock (Dylan, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, Velvet Underground, Tom Waits)
More and more so getting into Jazz - South Africa has some Jazz heroes (Abdullah Ibrahim and Hugh Masakela)
House and Techno also fun and nice.
Then beats and hip hop. Its all so nice

Hemingway, Bukowski, Tom Robbins, Douglas Adams, Hunter S Thompson, Joseph Heller, Jack Kerouac, John Irving -Haha, Eish, this is an old list. But they are all great.

Favorite movie - Hedwig and the angry Inch

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have spent two weeks in the desert building an artwork of three huge figures made out of alien vegetation. It was for a art music expression festival called Afrika Burn.
I did a masters thesis, which is quite amazing yet solo and from the outside boring.
I camped in a lightening storm in the Drakensberg.
