Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
See as much of the world as possible!
ABOUT ME
I'm a guy with simple philosophies: take as much as you can out of life and leave it in a better state than you came into it - even in the smallest ways you make greater differences than you would imagine. As a result, I always aim to try new things, meet new people and see new places; and make the best of each experience.
I don't like to plan much, much bigger fan of following instinct.
PHILOSOPHY
You can't beat a good whiskey
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea."
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'd like to be able to host more often, but it's not always easy where I often end up staying. However, I very much have the hosting spirit, and I look forward in the future when I'm more able to express it!
I try and be as active as possible in CS events wherever I happen to be; certainly not the kind of guy to avoid travels or social activities without very good reason
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Oh so, so positive. Met many interesting people, felt inspired by their stories and advices, gotten more out of my travels, and joined some fantastic events!
Interests
Travelling is a passion, and I like to squeeze as much as I can from each experience! Aside from that I'm big on squash and diving, but I've tried and enjoyed so many things it's hard to summarise. Generally I create new interests all the time.
Music, Movies, and Books
Most 19th century literature (no-one does it like the Russians!), I don't really have a prefered style for movies.
Post-rock is my favourite music - very atmospheric. Be warned I might try and convert you to it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Teaching English in Moscow, Living in a convent in a small Italian town, being spontaneously invited into a Georgian wedding, hitchhiking/camping all around Iceland and seeing the Aurora Borealis, husky riding in the arctic, helping run a homemade empanada business, scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef, bussing all around Latin America for 1 year, sleeping in the Amazon, going gorilla trekking, seeing the great migration in the Serengeti, skydiving with a view of Mt Cook, trekking in the Himalayas.
Teach, Learn, Share
Almost every day that passes comes with an opportunity to learn something, and pass your own lessons on to others. As short as life is, it's long enough to make anyone wise
