ABOUT ME

Dave and Rhodina, who are 66 years of age, have raised 3 boys, and have and travelled quite a bit. For two years we lived in England when our boys were 8, 10, and 12, and camped around Europe for 4 summers. Rhodina has been to South East Asia three times, once for 8 weeks with our 3 boys who were 17, 15, and 13, again with our youngest son when he was 15, and again with me in 2010. That year Rhodina also volunteered as a nursing instructor at IUBAT in Dhaka, went to Bangladesh. In 2006 Rhodina and I went to India for the summer, and in 2012 we traveled through out China with our eldest son and his girlfriend who were teaching in China at the time. In January we start a 6 month trip, 4 months in Central America, and then 2 months in Indonesia. Starting in January of 2018, after Rhodina "retired"...she quit may go back, we rented our house and went traveling. From January to July we traveled from Jordan down the east coast of Africa. For 6 weeks we hired a truck with agent on the rook and camped through Botswana and Namibia, followed by a 10 day drive down the Garden Route in South Africa. After visiting Africa, we went home for a month, then walked the the Portuguese Camino, visited Nepal, South India, Sri Lanka (were we met our youngest son a travelled with him for a month), Myanmar, Thailand, Laos before heading home to plan and organize a wedding. Since then Rhodina has walked 2 more Caminos, the portages and the Norte, Dave has walked the Norte. 2023 will see us walking three more Caminos, the Francis, the San Salvador and the Primativo, 100km. We will then head to Morocco for a month before heading home. Hopefully 2024 we will start the year by heading to South America.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are always willing to host travellers in our home. When we travel, we always enjoy meeting people from the area we are visiting. Soon we will be in Central America and we hope we get the opportunity to "surf" along the way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have only couch surfed once, and have only hosted 1 visiter. We have opened our house to friends of our son's when they pass though, and have always been willing to host people who need a place to stay when passing through town. Our youngest son has surfed in Turkey, Syria, and Jordan

Interests

Dave: watching sports (soccer, CFL football, college basketball and football), going to the gym, and playing golf....badly. Also coaches high school football, but has coached basketball at high school as well as community soccer.
