About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to harness the sun--electrically, of course
ABOUT ME
Leaving the great, but obscenely cold state of Maine for the dream of Northern California sustainability.
I dabble, to my own detriment. Have been a film maker, science teacher, and future philosophy professor in the past two years---until discovering that I can't actually sit still long enough to be kept indoors. Gotta build things--gardens, houses, barns, chairs--I love turning raw physical materials (especially 'junk') into something new an functional.
And I'm the dorkiest carpenter you'll ever meet--I get a little too excited about chisels, timber framing and solar hot water systems for my own good.
But talk to me about anything--seriously, anything--and I'll be genuinely interested; it's what makes me bad at focusing, but good at actually see what's up with new people.
PHILOSOPHY
pragmatism. It took philosophy over 2000 years to reach this conclusion: do what works.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I feel like a veteran (5 years now), even though I bounce in and out of CS---mostly out, as of recent. But! I never stop loving it, or spreading the good word to good people. All good experiences--some weird, but in the best possible way. Sadly I've never had a place in a town or city where anyone actually visits, so my hosting is limited (although! I've always made said places available)
But I love to surf (don't we all?). And I'm incredibly easy going and easy to please. I'd even cook something special for you--salad, soup, granola, name it or I'll surprise.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I turned the Redwood National/State Park trails into one large through hike. See, the park service got the brilliant idea to make the Redwoods a LOVELY drive, but really just a patchy set of disconnected day trips for hikers. My friend and I decided to change that by connecting separate trails through bushwhacking, river forging and many-a-sketchy night not having any clue where we were. Imagine 'Where the Wild Things Are' meets 'Lord of the Rings' meets 'Furn Gully.'
