About Me
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again.
Heya everyone. A short introduction so you know who you're dealing with: I'm a student English teacher in the Dutch city of Nijmegen. I love music, mountainbiking, hiking, hanging out with friends, reading, loving and travelling! I'm not very materialistic and I like to be on the move constantly. I try to appreciate the small things in life although it's not always easy when you want to live big and do a lot.
My philosophy is: Everything is much for he who doesn't expect much. Because it's true and I try to live by this thought. Happiness is being able to appreciate what you have.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I participate by opening my doors to travellers that need a place to stay. This community is one of the most beautiful things that the modern way of life brings us. Keeping in touch with people all over the world and being able to have a little look into someone's life for some days. I already have a lot of great experiences and I'm sure that I'm going to have a lot more to come!
I've become a pretty experienced couchsurfer during my travels in North-America! Now that I went back to school I try to bring the couchsurfing experience to my place by hosting people.
Interests
English literature, documentaries, a whole lot of different music genres, nature, psychology, sociology, the small details of things that seem so normal to most. I love sitting somewhere observing people that are passing by. I love the taste of a good beer after a hard day's work. But most of all, I love to take the first few steps away from home with an unknown destination. Not knowing what's going to happen next and leaving everything behind. That's the meaning freedom.

Music, Movies, and Books
My taste in music is broad. And altough I know this is a boring answer, it is very true. I love rock music e.g. Nirvana but I also like electronic music like techno, drum and bass or even hardcore. I play guitar so I like Bob Dylan and other singer/song writers and I've been to quite a few classical concerts. I play saxophone so I also like listening to jazz and blues. And film and books, well, you'd have to ask my when you meet me in person cause my favorites kindof changes daily.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A couple of awesome things I've done are:
- Climbing a 3000m mountain in the Alps and staying there for the night
- I ran for my life from a Grizzly Bear in the Rockies
- I've been to some huge underground rave parties in Holland and Berlin
- Visiting almost every capital in Europe.
- Had a road trip to the biggest festival in Europe, Sziget Festival in Hungary
- Cycling from one side of England to the other along Hadrian's wall
- Sleep on the top of a roof for a couple of nights.
- Waking up somewhere not remebering where I was and how I got there at all.
- Not stopped playing my music for a week straight.
- Snowboarding the Austrian ski slopes
- Working on a dairy farm in Alberta, Canada
- Travelling from the Westcoast of North America to the Eastcoast over land
- Celebrate carnival in Cologne
- Doing multiple day snowmobile trips in Northern Canada
And so on.
