Overview
About Me
Born and raised in San Diego, I moved out at 18 and have always lived with roommates since, whether in a room or on someone's couch. I studied in Indiana, close to Chicago, and taught there. For my first few travel experiences, I volunteered in Africa and the Caribbean. I loved it. So I left teaching to travel long-term and ended up living in Greece and the Czech Republic for 2 years. Then I lived in Australia for a year, north of Sydney. Recently, I moved to Yokohama, next to Tokyo, to teach English. I'm looking forward to meeting others and enjoying Japan!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've always loved being able to meet others through roommates and friends coming over, or vise versa. I think if someone feels at home, it's easier for the other person to feel comfortable too. That's what I like about Couchsurfing, it sets strangers up to meet in each other's comfort zones and familiar cities.
Interests
My interests can be pretty consistent with nature, nightlife, and new music, but to be limited to that would discount all the interests that come and go with each new day.
- nightlife
- beaches
- nature
Music, Movies, and Books
Deep House and Instrumental Hip Hop are my favorite types of music, but I like most genres except for stuff that will give me nightmares (i.e. Country).
A Clockwork Orange and Point Break (1991) are my fav movies... and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Hunter S. Thompson) and Invisible Monsters (Palahniuk) are my fav books. Adventure Time and Family Guy are my fav TV shows.
I'm also easily entertained by anything James Bond or Sherlock Holmes.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've spent one too many nights sleeping in public areas and not enough nights sleeping on someone's couch. My longest stretch was 8 nights straight at the Cairo Airport! Also slept on a pier in San Sebastian, a sidewalk in Vienna, a gazebo in Auckland, an ATM booth in Chicago, a school's rooftop in San Diego, a bush in Krakow - I could go on and on.
