About Me
Hello people,
I am a young (ehm?) man of simple pleasures and complicated ideas, a pacifist rebel, a narcissistic altruist, a cynical idealist. You may spot some contradictions here and there.
I was born in Rome; I studied languages at university, and I worked maaany years (almost a decade) in Rome in the hospitality industry.
However at the age of 30 I realised I wasn't living the way I wanted anymore, so I quit everything and 'went for an adventure', as in all the previous years I had grown much more interested in eco-projects, farming, sustainability, etc. rather than career-money, materialism, capitalism, etc.
I spent the last four years mainly volounteering in organic farms (through organizations such as Wwoof or Workaway), being on mountains, growing a garden in the countryside outside of Rome, living in rural Scotland for some time, and of course, travelling.
My dream is to one day own some land, grow a permaculture garden, and have a small off the grid cabin to live in. I want to live a simple life in balance with nature and my fellow human beings. But I feel like I need to explore and discover more about myself, and the world out there, before I "settle down".
I believe in love, nature, and peace.
I like wilderness, music and reading... oh, and cooking.
I love dogs (and quite often, they love me)!
My favourite quote is: "Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth." (H. D. Thoreau)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am currently cycling from South East Asia to... back home, or at least to the Mediterranean Sea. I love to travel on my bike, but I spend most of the time on it by myself, not getting a whole lot of human interaction. So it would be lovely if at the end of the day I could also get to meet local people, and share stories. : )

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite authors are Jack Kerouac, Jack London, Henry David Thoreau, and D.H. Lawrence.
My favourite movies are American Beauty, Dead Poets Society, Braveheart, Everything is illuminated, and many others.
I love rock music. I used to listen to almost only heavy stuff (metal, punk, etc.), but as I am getting old I am getting to appreciate more quiet staff, too. : )
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I almost died in a motorbike accident (which was one of the best things that ever happened to me).
I spend two months by myself on a mountain in the heart of winter.
I came across a wolf while hiking on a mountain path.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am genuinely interested in knowing and learning about humans, and I don't mean the "small talk", but what's really going on in our hearts and minds. I think I'm quite good at talking and listening when it comes to that.
Or maybe, err... I can simply cook some pasta, haha. ; )
