About Me

As an engineering student, most of my time is occupied by books and computers, or so I like to tell myself. Easily distracted as I am, I tend to end up sharing some coffee and conversation instead. With 3 years left to go on my studies, I recently decide to go on my first trip on my own, outside of my country, outside of Europe and outside of my comfort zone. At the time of writing there's still roughly a week left, and I couldn't have made a better decision. I love exploring new worlds, cultures, and meeting new people. If it's one thing this trip has taught me, it's how much the people you surround yourself with impact your daily experiences.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too short to not enjoy it

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I just joined couchsurfing I have nothing to show for so far, but my couch and air-mattress are available at all times. I am currently planning my trip to USA in november and hoping to meet some nice fellow surfers while I'm at it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I haven't had the opportunity to host or surf anything yet. During my travels I visited a CS meetup in Boston, where I met some of the nicest people so far on my trip, so I'm so looking forward to my next experience!

Interests

I enjoy nothing more than social activities, I believe happiness and food are things best shared. When traveling, my time is mostly occupied exploring new areas, getting to know locals and given the choice between nature and city, nature will always come first.
At home my periods of laziness tend to interfere with interests and activities and I can spend an embarrassing amount of time at home, experimenting in the kitchen, or just enjoying a good cup of coffee. To be fair to myself, I do engage in a lot of other activities. Volunteering for student associations have been a big part of my life the past years, especially in an amateur theater group.
Also, learning new languages has always interested me, hopefully one day I will become more than bilingual, but usually time tend to get in the way. My current goal is to get proficient enough in french to have a decent conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES & TV-SERIES

TV-series junky, if it's on HBO I have probably seen it. To name-drop a few:
Game of Thrones, True Detective, Dexter, Vikings

If you're looking for something different, and share my weird sense of humor, I recommend checking out "How not to live your life", don't blame me if you don't like it, I did warn you!

I must also admit to watching all the series of Gossip Girl, though not a favorite series, I did have it as a guilty pleasure for a while.

BOOKS

I don't have much to show for here. As most people from my generation I've read the Harry Potter series (maybe about 3 times), working my way through Game of Thrones. Clearly, fantasy books seem to be my genre, but I enjoy any good book, topping my to-read list right now would probably be Lord of the flies.

MUSIC

I have a hard time to pin-point any special genre I prefer. I enjoy different music in different settings. When studying, I stick to classical. In the running track, high-paced rock, pop or maybe even house music might fill my ears. When just reclining on the couch, enjoying life with a good song, I will most likely have an old britpop song playing. Sometimes however, madness strikes me and I lose myself in rap, punk or when I really feel it, some nice funk!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When hiking in Norway I got the opportunity to rappel down a glacier crevasse and then, equipped with ice axes and crampons and tons of adrenaline, climb up to the surface again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make an amazing cup of coffee, how to ride a unicycle, juggle (though not on the same time, yet), or lots of other nerdy skills, just ask.

My current goal is to learn french, but I am in general interested in all languages.
Also, I like spending time in the kitchen and would like to improve my culinary repertoire, especially with food from other cultures.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of energy, a smile and an amazing cheesecake.
