About Me

MISSION (s)
-meh.

ABOUT ME

Teacher by day, death metal musician by night, traveller and/or lazy bum during holidays.

PHILOSOPHY

Respect yourself. Respect others. Be empathic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love meeting people from different places and cultures and exchanging experiences, stories, recipes, songs, languages, literature, ...
That's why I enjoy both hosting and surfing.

IF YOU'RE SURFING AT MY PLACE:
-I'll make sure (if anyhow possible) to be able to spend time with you, to show you around the city, and/or hang out
-I'll basically give my best for us to have a great time while you're here
-I'll expect you to be respectful and reliable

IF YOU'RE HOSTING ME:
-I'll be curious about you and your lifestyle but respectful in every way (respecting house rules, keep the place clean, stick to times we agreed on, etc.)
-I'll be open to cook with you or help you out at home
-I'll bring a little gift from my home region
-I'll be glad if you have time to hang out and maybe show me around your town. If not, no problem: I'll just explore the place on my own.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Extremely good so far! Surfed with eight hosts, hosted surfers five times. Met wonderful people throughout.

Interests

I love music. Playing guitar, singing (mostly to myself), screaming, finger drumming (which some people mistake for nervosity but mostly it's just some catchy song stuck in my head),....
Then I love my job (teacher) and the subjects I teach (English, psychology and philosophy). So any remark in that direction is gonna spark a discussion.
I also love reading, watching good films or series (see below), meeting people, doing various kinds of sports or other things just for the hack of it. Oh, and I just love playing. Card games, board games, tabletop games,... some computer games but generally I'm more of an analog guy ;-)

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES: Lots of Austrian movies (very dry and dark humor, e.g. Bad Fucking, Braunschlag, Knochenmann,...), Mr. Nobody, Lars von Trier movies, In Bruges, ... basically anything that is done intelligently and has some depth. Which makes it hard to find happy films sometimes, but I guess I have to live with that :D

MUSIC: Well, I'm absolutely into metal. Some of my favourite bands from that genre are Type O Negative, Opeth, Nevermore, Metallica,... But generally I am very open about all kinds of music (I just don't listen to other stuff nearly as much, as I listen to metal ;-) )

LITERATURE: Books/authors which I have especially enjoyed reading: Foreskin's Lament, House of Leaves, Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, The Song of Ice and Fire series, Lars Kepler, some Austrian authors (e.g. Wolf Haas or Daniel Glattauer. If you're German speaking or can get your hands onto a translation, check them out!), and many, many more

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've played in some bands in the recent years and one of the greatest gigs I had with one of them was at an Austrian metal festival in 2011. Actually we were booked for the second stage in a small tent but fortunately (for us, at least) the band that was supposed to play was running late. So we were called onto the main stage on short notice and, at least in my terms, it was a huge crowd (probably less than 1,000, but hey! :D). Pretty amazing for me!
Every single trip I've taken

Teach, Learn, Share

My mother tongue (German). English (I guess most people 'round here don't need that, but hey! Why study the language if not mention it here :D ). Psychological stuff. Philosophical stuff (it doesn't get more eloquent than this). Good and bad jokes (I fear most of them only work in German, though). Playing the guitar. And of course I can teach you the game of 'STOASCHEISSA KOAL'!

What I Can Share with Hosts

-I usually bring fancy fair trade chocolate from Austria. Or beer.
-Stories, experiences, my knockledge (or lack thereof...)
