About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see things I haven't seen yet. I want to take road trips up and down the old US Highway system that existed before the interstates, checking out all the little towns and countrysides they pass through.

ABOUT ME

I like exploring. As soon as I got my first car I spent much of my free time getting lost in the back roads (before the dawn of GPS) near my house, confident that I'd eventually find my way back home but not really caring how long it took.

I'm a reader, primarily of non-fiction: history, biographies, etc. I don't think humanity ever really changes, so if we want to know who we are, we have a lot to learn from those that came before.

And I grew up playing the piano, but now play the guitar. The blues is what I really love, but I can't deny that I was a proud member of a 90s rock/pop cover band.

PHILOSOPHY

Everybody deserves fairness.

Music, Movies, and Books

Star Wars, Biographies, The Allman Brothers, Gov't Mule, Derek Trucks, Tolkien, Robert Penn Warren (these are the exceptions to my non-fiction rule), Dawes, The Avett Brothers, Star Trek, old war movies, etc etc etc

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Riding on the roof of a truck up and down a mountain in Jamaica, with a sheer cliff awaiting me if I fell and just a metal bar to hold on to.

Teach, Learn, Share

If for some reason you'd like to learn about Tennessee history, I'm your guy. Or if you're interested in the past or present of the labor movement, I can be helpful with that too. Need to find actual *live* music in Miami? I can probably point you in the right direction.

Likewise, if you're aware of a little hole in the wall to hear people play music, I'd like to know. And I'm always interested in exploring.
