About Me

CURRENT MISSION

60 destinations in 30 days

ABOUT ME

I love traveling and meeting new people. I also like my alone time which I spend out in the waves surfing, reading, or watching movies. Balance is essential to life and I've had to learn that the hard way several times, but my wife has helped to create that in my life and I guess after 10 years together, I think we both contribute to the other's success. Working hard, making money, and living life to the fullest (making each moment count) are also important to me. However, slowing down to watch a sunset, or appreciating conversation (other than politics or religion which I love to debate and talk on for hours) with family and friends is just as important.

Currently while I am looking for work, I saw this ticket thing on Jet Blue for $700 anywhere anytime in the US travel, so I took a chance and bought it. I have never traveled solo before so i am a bit nervous, but documenting my travel through facebook, twitter, youtube and e-mail I hope to help others take a risk or chance and do something they wouldn't normally. At the very most it could be life changing. At the very least, I am networking right??? :)

PHILOSOPHY

"Be the change you wish to see in the world" -Gandhi
I like this quote, my wife introduced it to me. I think to many times people hide behind or take personal solace in religion, politics, or whatever and look to others or God to solve problems (big or small). I like Gandhi's idea here, that each of us need to work on ourselves before we blame someone else for anything that is going wrong or we think needs fixing. "Stand up and be counted" don't just live life and hate, participate it in this life making each day count.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now to participate I will hopefully be couch surfing and in the future if it goes well, open up our home to others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am a rookie, the only kind of couch surfing I have done before has been unintentional (like drunk or high as a young man). I am a novice, but excited to test it out.

Interests

Surfing, reading, playing chess, sight seeing, working out (cardio as well as weights), traveling, meeting new people, making money, hiking, snowboarding, cross country skiing, biking and much more.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies, anything but dark comedy.
Music, everything but extreme rock, rap, country
Books- I love reading biographies, true stories, adventure stories (wish I had been born in the 1700s sailing across the seas to find "new worlds"), and anything on World War II.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sky diving was pretty incredible. Surfing in huge waves that I thought might actually kill me. Living in the Middle East and coming out intact :) Realizing that everyone around the world no matter the religion, ethnicity, gender have the same everyday struggles and joys. We create borders that we think define us. Sadly, they just keep us from realizing we are all the same.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been living abroad for the last 5 years in Japan, Kuwait and Dubai UAE. I can regal you for hours with countless tales funny, sad, etc.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates

Countries I’ve Lived In

Japan, Kuwait, United States
