Overview
About Me
I'm a student in Vienna since several years, at the moment finishing my Master. Maybe I'm not a typical travel enthusiast, but that's mainly because I prefer the quality of a long and intensive stay over a lot of short visits of many places. I really like to get to know European cities with long history and tradition. My preference is to experience other cultures by getting to know life styles and people, not only from the tourist guides.
Right now I'm on Erasmus in Weimar, Germany (yes that's where Goethe spend many days), writing my Masters thesis.
Besides studying theatre, film and media (with a personal focus on computers (culture) and why the heck our societies and minds change due to them), I enjoy to engage in conversations about all stuff, but culture, art, technology, also food and environment are maybe some favorites. I am always happy to meet people who think "different", different to the majority in society, and different to my own thinking. But whoever I meet, via CS or else, isn't measured in these terms.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the idea of a sharing community, even better when it's connected all over the world. And since I'm a student I'm just in the same situation as every other one concerning finances for travelling ;-)
Allthough it says "Member since 2013" I only started to actively use CS in 2017 since I'm on Erasmus. That's also the reason why there wasn't so much chance for having references yet. And I will be happy to host people in VIENNA again, starting with middle of september 2017.
Interests
cinema, theatre, computers, digitalization, most culturall stuff in general
drinking, eating (self prepared) food and cooking (also together with others)
Music, Movies, and Books
Jazz (bill evans, brad mehldau), I like some electronic music and musicians who experiment (Fennesz, he's from Austria!), Bon Iver, 80s music and more....I would be always happy to go to a concert with you or take you to one (when I'm in Vienna).
Teach, Learn, Share
I can tell you a little about how the Internet works and why it might be important to become more sensitive to topics like data privacy.
I like languages and what it means to speak a language, grow up with one or more and how our thinking is shaped by language (and recently, computers ;-)
And I can always give a spontaneous lecture on film history.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Conversations about a lot of things, especially about computers, digital culture, education, art, cinema, theatre, food & cooking, Austrian clichees.
I could also cook an Austrian sweet dish like "Kaiserschmarrn" for you!
And I'm a very happy social drinker, both beer and wine.
