About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Trek the Great Wall of China as a good will ambassador.

ABOUT ME

I am a family man. I love my home. I love to travel because I love the people that I meet. However, I would rather travel with a local purpose rather than as a tourist. I would much rather stay in a local home and have something important to do with the local community so that I can meet real people and experience how they really live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Wannabe, Newbie. Funny Story: My wife asked me if I wanted to go get a massage with her. After an awkward pause I said, well, I don't know if I want some other woman's hands on me. She said, you can have a man, to which I said, um :-0 , no thank you. In the end, I did get the massage and it was wonderful, but I feel the same awkwardness about couch surfing for the first time. It's nothing personal, but I do love to meet interesting people and share a laugh or two.

Interests

I love to sing and play my guitar.
I am a triathlete so I am way into a healthy fitness lifestyle. I am likely to swim, bike or run at the drop of a hat.
I am learning to blog and find my way around social media so I can apply my trade as an entrepreneur to the web and work anywhere I can find the internet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was able to record some english language tracks for an international radio broadcast station in South Korea in 2001. When we took our lunch break, we walked into the rice paddy next to the 5 story glass office building that we had been working in and ate lunch in a shipping container restaurant. God only knows what was on the menu!
I love to eat the local foods with local people. In China, 2009, We went to a famous dumpling restaurant and got the sampler platter. Yes, I ate dog. But my favorite meal was the Peking Duck. The whole trip was worth it for that one meal.
Nothing, I say nothing beats a South African brie. A brie is like a bar b q party that lasts all night long and is a carnivore dream.
A very close second is a Brazilian buffet with all the trimmings.
